Studio
A studio for design, light, and wonder.
Web, identity, projection, generative systems, and the odd physical object. San Francisco.
We think about most things the way a good room is lit. Not one bulb in the middle of the ceiling, but a few low sources, each lighting the thing it is for, so the room feels warm where it is dim and open where it is bright. The name comes from that: five to seven sources, none overhead.
We would rather light the work than the lamp. What is lit matters more than the fixture, so the work gets the light and the studio mostly stays out of frame. Closeness, warmth and softness do most of the talking; colour and spectacle come last, if at all.
The feeling we are after is a glade in the forest, a grandmother's house, a view that is airy and light. The room is dark and the light is what makes it cozy.
